Bookends

Living so close work, 2 blocks, I don’t often get to see the fabulous sunrises and sunsets in the valley.  Yesterday was an anomaly for me.  I was up at 5:30 AM, early for me, in order to do a quick 6:40 live interview on the local tv channel.  Nothing exciting.  Just a quick information session about our local triathlon club and our co-hosting of the USA Triathlon Winter Triathlon Championships.  It sounds much more grand than it is.

Following the interview I drove to Helena for a couple of meetings.  Three Forks is a natural stopping place en-route and I was there just as the sun was coming up over the Bridger, Gallatin and Absaroka mountains to the East. Three Forks is the headwaters of the Missouri River, where the Jefferson, Madison and Gallatin Rivers come together.  The Lewis and Clark Expedition made camp at this spot and I can only wonder if they saw similar sunrises.  This cell phone camera photo does not do it justice, but it was a stunning sunrise.

Returning home the Bridgers were, once again, on fire.  This from our front yard.  Not a bad way to bookend the day.

Not a bad view to have from your front yard, either.

    Dang.

Looks even better when you crop out our neighbor’s roofs as I did in the photo!
