For my wife and me, perhaps our favorite time in the mountains is when we are tucked in a safe shelter and a thunderstorm rolls through. The sounds of thunder echoing back and forth between the valley walls is something you can only experience in person. No words can describe it. And after the storm clears the world can be stunning.
Here’s some shots from this past weekend in the Boulder River drainage. A two-hour storm cleared around 8:30 PM revealing a freshly-washed landscape and brilliant light. The next day we hiked through lush wildflowers and checked out Natural Falls on the Main Boulder River. Not bad for an overnight outing.

I want to inherit a ranch on the Boulder . . . more particularly the West Boulder.
