In 2007 I agreed to build my parents a sailboat.  I had an idea of what I was getting into, but every project seems to throw you a few unexpected challenges.  The previous year they came close to buying a 13′ 4″ Melonseed Skiff at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s annual boat auction.  The Melonseed is a classic hunting skiff from the late 1800’s, designed for plying the shallow marshes of New Jersey.  It is incredibly seaworthy and sails like a dream.  On top of that, it looks great!  There is hardly a straight line on the boat.  Curves flow into curves, before tapering to classic edges.

At the end of this project I put together a little book. documenting the build.  Some folks have found it helpful or interesting.  It is available at: http://www.blurb.com/my/book/detail/562219
